In this assignment, you will create an executive summary of an oral public health issue/crisis for a state legislator. This summary will help the legislator understand the importance of the issue and direct him or her to a realistic solution. Choose a current oral public health issue or crisis of interest ( dental caries (tooth decay) or periodontal disease) . Find a credible source of data relating to this issue to provide background facts and information. Explain how one or more of the disciplines of public health and which of the 10 essential services of public health can address this issue/crisis. Identify the stakeholders involved and what support is needed to address the issue/crisis. Finally, explain what recommendations you have–in the form of policy, law, or regulation–that can be enacted to solve this issue/crisis. This executive summary should be a maximum of four pages and must include at least five references, including your two textbooks. You must address your chosen legislator by name (real or fictional).
