COVID-19 Experience

Hi, this essay is very creative. My professor asked some questions about the quarantine experience recently. I will ask them with short terms or short paragraphs. You can write this paper based on my answer or you can just create one. But please don’t write this paper the way you are answering all questions. It’s about your thought and experience.

what should I include?

1. Ask yourself, “do you control your life?”
No. I’m graduating this semester. As an international student, I was planning to apply for OPT and find a job in America. My parents were planning to come to America for my graduation commencement. But the virus crosses up the whole plan. I want to go back to China right away to stay with my family during this period. However, most flights back to china are canceled. So, I don’t think I can control my life right now. I don’t even know what is going to happen the next day.

2. How has it been coping with this?

Everywhere is closed, including the parks. I have nowhere to go. Staying at home makes me emotional and depressed. But I have 24/7 for myself. I start to find something to do at home.

I have to admit that I felt happy when the school announced to cancel all physical classes. But after serval weeks, I want to go back to campus. it’s very hard to finish my classes very well at home. I watched a lot of shows recently. And play my phone for more than 8 hours per day. after 1-month quarantine life, I don’t wanna watch shows, I don’t wanna play my phone. I want to go out and meet my friends. I learned the importance of social or being connected during this period. Meantime, I’m so bored that I start to cook. My cooking skills improved a lot.

3. How has it affected you? Ie. loneliness, reaching out to others, daily coping strategies
Lonely, depressed, emotional.

It’s hard to not meet with friends. feeling isolated

4. What have been your most pervasive feelings during this period? Fear, anxiety, anger, love, hate, humility, betrayal, empathy?
anxiety. You can expand depending on what I have described above. Makeup something.

5. What have you learned about your world at this time? What changes do you plan to make once this is over?
This world is chaos. We as humans should all stay together to fight the virus. but some people don’t cooperate, they go out without masks. Some people say some discrimination statement which hurt me.

When the virus is done. I want to complete my graduation trip.
I was planning to stay in America for jobs. But I will go back to my home country after the virus. I know the importance of the company. I want to stay with people I loved. I know the importance of family.
