TWO: CHRISTIAN WORLDVIEW DISCUSSION
Objective: Discuss the definition of a Christian worldview.
Instructions
The Christian worldview is different than any other worldview. In future weeks, we will be looking at different worldviews, but before we look at those worldviews, we need to have the framework of a Christian worldview to fully appreciate how to engage with the other worldviews. For this discussion, we will focus in on the elements of the Christian worldview.
Read Chapter 10 in your textbook.
Discuss the elements of a Christian worldview.
Discuss the following questions along with your definition:
o Is the Christian worldview unique? Why? or Why not?
o What elements are essential for a person to hold a Christian worldview?
Provide your initial post by Day 4 and replies to fellow students by Day 7 in the forum titled Christian Worldview Discussion. Consult the discussion forum rubric in your syllabus for further details.
THREE: WK2 CASE STUDY
Objective: Respond to a worldview from a biblical perspective.
Instructions
What elements are necessary for a Christian worldview? This activity will require you to reflect on that question as you respond to a particular case study. The case study is a potential life scenario you could encounter.
Here is the situation. You have a good friend who is a Christian. You love hanging out with him and the other day, as your conversation turned theological, he said that he believes sin doesn’t affect our salvation. Your friend argues that people are naturally good and do not need to be “saved” to go to heaven.
What do you say? Do you agree or disagree?
How do you explain what you see as the biblical vision of sin?
In a 1-page thoughtful and respectful response, provide a reply to the individual in the case study.
Submit your case study response to the drop box titled WK2 Case Study for your instructor.
FOUR: WK2 ARTICLE REVIEW
Objective: Research elements of a Christian worldview.
Instructions
We have discussed some of the elements of a Christian worldview from the perspective of the textbook authors. Now you have the opportunity to do research on the topic.
Use the OCU library to locate and read a peer-reviewed journal article addressing the elements of a Christian worldview.
Write a 1-2 page paper addressing the following criteria.
o Analyze the article you read from the library comparing and contrasting it with the elements of a Christian worldview in the textbook.
o In your analysis include a summary paragraph that outlines what you have learned about the Christian worldview from both readings
Submit your review to the drop box titled WK2 Article Review for your instructor.
FIVE: WK2 JOURNAL
Objective: Explain how the Bible informs your personal worldview.
Instructions
Throughout the course you will be completing a journal. The journal will consist of four one-page essays (one page from each week) and a final journal for Week Five. These thought journals will help you analytically consider new insights as well as additional thoughts on previous insights.
Read Chapter 11 in your textbook.
Write a one-page journal entry that describes how you can personally cultivate a Christian worldview.
Discuss the role the Bible plays in your personal worldview.
Discuss any changes in perspective that you would need to make to hold a Christian worldview.
Journal entries are not expected to be formatted in the APA style unless otherwise noted from your instructor; however, citations should be presented in APA format. Also, it is expected that grammar, spelling, etc. properly meet a university level of writing.
