CATHOLICISM – CONTEMPORARY ISSUES II

This assignment is best suited for a writer who is familiar with religious writing in Catholicism.

There are three sections totaling 100 points. I’ve been really struggling in this class and in dire need of help. Every week there are three assignments due:

Assignment one: Concepts – Definition reinterpreted in your own words.
Assignment two: Teachings – Mainly, I must explain listed concepts in my own words.
Assignment three: Reflection – Requires a description and reflection of various teachings.

Here is the content needed for this particular assignment:

Assignment one (definitions): death penalty, direct abortion, indirect abortion, euthanasia, suicide, assisted suicide, “just war,” “double effect”

Assignment two (teachings): Explain:
1) under what conditions the withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment differs from 1) euthanasia, and 2) assisted suicide
2) what the CDF says about “the pleas of gravely ill people” in terms of euthanasia
3) what the U.S. bishops say about the cost of assisted suicide
4) the main points of Catholic teaching regarding the death penalty
a scenario in which the “double effect” would enter the question of guilt in the death of a fetus

Assignment three (reflection):

*Describe a) Catholic teaching about, then b) your own opinion: 1) parental decision to discontinue life-sustaining treatment of a 17-year-old; 2) a dying person’s refusal to eat or drink; 3) the refusal of a 16-year-old who has been raped and stabbed to be put on life-saving and life-sustaining treatment.
