The focus of this assignment is to enable you to analyse, discuss, understand and reflect upon aspects of team-working and group work through the tutorial projects which you worked on over the module. * THE ASSIGNMENT IS FOCUSED ON COMMUNICATION STRATEGIES USED IN THE TUTORIAL GROUP WORK. It is not about the design brief or the choices made in your groups, but about _how_ those choices were made. This means, for example, exploring the following (this is not an exhaustive list, and other aspects may also be relevant – the following is just guidelines): * Were there any communication issues (language, culture, etc.)? * Were there any tensions and disagreement in the group interaction? How were these resolved (if they were resolved)? * How was it decided who did what? Did someone become the main group organiser? How was this decided? How did you feel about this? * If you were the main organiser, were you happy to take this task on? If not, how did you manage this with your group? * Did you feel excluded at any point for any reason? How did you deal with this? Do you think you misunderstood or excluded any other group member? * Were there any problems with any group members? * Did all group members contribute fully? How did you manage those who weren’t contributing? * If your group got on very well and there were no issues at all, why do you think this happened? * What did you learn about group collaboration and communication from this experience? What would you do differently in the future, and why? Did you learn anything about yourself through this experience? * The focus is on the group interaction, not the project itself. * No real names are to be used – no group member should be identified or identifiable. * Use theoretical material where possible to give an academic context to your experience. At this level, independent research is expected and so credit will be given for evidence of reading that goes beyond the lectures and course material. This reading must, of course, be used in a relevant way. You can use Adrian Holliday’s book, of course, but alongside other scholarly material that will help to illustrate the strategies and interactions that took place and how they were managed. * * The lit. review should focus on material concerned with intercultural communication and collaborative strategies and issues (related to design where possible, but not essential). It must go beyond the course material (so not just lectures and Holliday). The lit. review is not about the design brief itself. * If you want to reference lecture material, you must go to the source, not just cite the lecture. * The module outline provides some information on structure and suggested wordlengths. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THIS AND INCLUDE ALL THE REQUIRED SECTIONS.
