Students are at the extreme risk of being severely affected by the active shootings in schools. The design of a building may affect how police respond in case of any. Some challenges affect response time for law enforcement officials. There is much need to explicitly find out how to make the community, and more especially schools, more prepared in case of an active shooter. Ways to make the community more prepared will help in the implementation of advanced security measures. The measures will provide a safe and secure learning environment. This provides the need for institutions to be well conversant with the chances of active shooters incident to occur and put in place an emergency response plan. Several pieces of research and improvement of people’s preparedness for active shooters are highly recommended.
