Business Incubation Self-Reflection Paper

This is a Self-Reflection Paper in the Business Incubation class where my team had to create a startup. My team’s project was an app called “Urscan” . It’s an app that helps people to connect by sharing contacts, social media profiles and business information by scanning a QR code from your phone. I’ll attach a presentation about the app for better understanding. You can make up the answers for the questions, just make them related to the app. The paper should be no more than 3 pages (single-spaced) to summarize:

1. Your work and accomplishments during the semester. What did you spend your time and effort on? I’ve been helping out my teammates with stuff and projects they needed help with, like a paper about our competitors or doing slides for the presentation. They would always keep me updated on how are things going on with the app and call me and have meetings. For other questions feel free to just to come up with your own answers but obviously related to the app. What were your biggest accomplishments? What might you say you accomplished to a prospective employer, e.g., Google. More important, did you work hard and smart enough to enable your business to be compete in the market place? The app didn’t launch yet, but we are still working on it. We had some ups and downs, like at some point we found a competitor that was actually going to the same college and had almost the same idea, and we thought our app would fail because he was almost ready to launch the app and we were far from doing it, he also had sponsors and we didn’t, but eventually we teamed up. What do you have to do to turn the project into a real company versus a fun class project? How did you deal with your teammates? They were great and supportive. Were you a good leader or a good teammate? Two of my teammates were the ones who created the idea, so they were the leaders, and I would help them out with the stuff they asked for. Are you satisfied with your accomplishments? Why or why not?

2. The biggest challenges you experienced. What was difficult for you? What challenges and difficulties did you overcome (or not overcome) in terms of business your own personal matters? What made you feel uncomfortable and unhappy? Do you know your weaknesses? (What are you crappy at?) What weaknesses do you want to overcome and strengthen in the future? Which don’t you want to bother with? How did you react when you faced difficulties?

3. Missteps and/or anything they wish you had done better or differently. Were you mistake- and faultless in everything you did during the semester? Did you follow the lean principles, learn from data, and pivot as necessary? What mistakes did you make? In what occasions was your judgment or intuition off target? Did your instructor, teammates or customers/partners ever disagree with your view of the world? How did you react to such comments? Did you admit your mistakes to your teammates when appropriate? What would you have done differently?

4. Key lessons learned from the course. Overall, what did you learn from the course and the project(s) in terms of starting and running a business. What did the course and the project(s) you worked hard on tell you about yourself? What did you learn about your preference, strengths, weaknesses, work habits, etc. Do you think you like to start and/or build companies? What aspects of the job are you good (or bad) at ? What kind of companies do you (not) want to be involved with? What kinds of functions/tasks do you want to spend your time (not) doing? Do you think that you could be a successful entrepreneur?
