Assessment
Throughout this assignment you are expected to demonstrate evidence of your knowledge of the following learning outcomes:
Understand the nature of healthcare organizations and the process of management
Explain and critically analyze a range of contemporary managerial concerns with a particular focus on ethical and sustainability issues pertinent in the current healthcare environment
Your achievement of the unit outcomes will be assessed by two blog posts (of a maximum of 1000 words each) and four peer comments (of a maximum of 100 words each). This assessment is weighted as 40% of the module total.
Blog Post 1 (max 1,000 words)
In the first blog post (due by end of Unit 4) you should reflect on an experience or critical incident related to the management of an individual or a group, using Gibbs reflective cycle (1988). You should explain the management process that took place and contextualise the situation within the healthcare organisation. You should explain the organisational factors and wider context (for example, ethical or sustainability concerns) relevant to the situation.
Please remember that this is to be written as a blog post which is visible to all students. It is therefore paramount that you write in a sensitive and confidential manner. For example, do not use organisation or people’s names in your posts.
You may wish to signpost to resources which have been useful to you

Top Tips
As per your assessment guidelines, your blog content should take us through your reflective process while demonstrating comprehensive insight and understanding into your chosen topic. However, your work should still be structured like a ‘typical’ blog (see examples above) and your ideas expressed creatively.
Academic Integrity and Plagiarism
We take academic integrity very seriously. Academic integrity means acting with fairness and honesty, giving credit to others where you are referring to their ideas or research and respecting the work of others. Plagiarism is defined as: ‘Using or copying the work of others (whether written, printed or in any other form) without proper acknowledgement’. Before you finalise your blog posts take time to check that all your statements are backed up with supporting evidence, that all sources you use – whether referring to their ideas, quoting directly or paraphrasing – are correctly referenced in the text. Correct use of referencing acknowledges the academic whose work has informed yours, enables the reader to find the sources you have used and demonstrates your ability to find and analyse relevant information.
Failure to properly acknowledge the work of others is an academic offence and may result in your work incurring a penalty or, in the most serious cases, you being removed from the course for academic dishonesty.
