Please answer the 3 questions based on the readings of the book Intern. Remember to always analyze and think sociologically.
-Read Intern, the articles on the Flexner Report and specialization, McKinlay’s article on the “End of the Golden Age of Doctoring,” Gawande’s articles on his training and experiences as a surgeon, any additional articles I post regarding the topic in the next couple of weeks and, of course, Gawande’s article, “Letting Go!,” which focuses on the conflict between many years of medical training and providing care to dying patients!
-Focus on the following sociological concepts in this question.

Examine sociologically the socialization process at work during training.

(1) Examples of residents and interns learning medical norms and values:
Identify at least 3-4 instances in the readings where the intern, residents or medical learn norms and values that they eventually internalize as doctors and other professionals.

(2.) Patient, family and medical staff understanding of their role on doctor-staff-patient relationship
Explain sociologically how the medical staff comes to learn the patient, the family and the medical staff’s role in the doctor-patient relationship. How does their training shape the doctor-patient relationships, medical staff relationships, the control over decisions and the type of communications that occur in the U.S. medical setting?

(3.) Impact of specialization and way work is organized in medical setting
How does specialization and organization of work influence treatment and communication between the patient and between staff members?
