Annotated Bibliography
In preparation for the final research paper, you will select 4 specific human resource topics to research as if preparing to create a Human Resource policy manual. You will then be required to research reputable, professional, scholarly journals for information dealing with the content/nature of his/her 4 selected topics and create an annotated bibliography containing all 10 of his/her chosen scholarly sources in current APA format (published within the last 5 years). And contain persistent links so others may have instant access. Include a proper title page. A title page must be included that does not count toward the overall page count. A brief article summary of at least 150 words must be supplied for each citation utilized.

The annotations are designed to help readers better understand and more easily learn about your topic. The annotation is not a normal required component of APA; rather, it is a specific additional requirement for this assignment. Note the following regarding your annotated bibliography:

• An annotated bibliography is a list of the journals and resources you used.
• Each citation is followed by a brief paragraph (at least 150 words) that is descriptive and evaluative—the annotation. For a total of 1500 words for 10 citation
• The purpose of the annotation is to inform the reader of the relevance, accuracy, and quality of the sources cited.

Do not cut and paste from your sources, as this constitutes plagiarism. Regardless of the reason, this is plagiarism.

The annotated Bibliography will lead into the below research paper.

Research Paper
You will research a minimum of 4 specific human resource topics to provide a broad base for researched rationale, supporting the nature and substance of each policy that he/she will then write about. You will write at least 1,750 words in current APA format and include a title page, abstract, and a reference page that do not count toward the overall word requirement. The research paper must include the 10 specific sources submitted in the annotated bibliography (published within the last 5 years). The student may include additional reputable, professional, scholarly sources, but must use the 10 provided in the annotated bibliography in addition to the textbook and biblical integration.

In a research paper, provide researched rationale for the nature and substance of your 4 selected, distinct policies. This paper is to be reflective of an academic research paper. The research paper must address the reasoning and/or rationale for the inclusion of the selected policy elements in a policy manual.

The selected policies must correctly address employment legislation pertinent to the stated size of the company (15–25 employees). In elaborating on the rationale, you may want to consider the following questions: Why should these elements be in a policy manual? What laws or principles mandate an organization follow these guidelines? What cases have established precedent for this issue to be addressed clearly in an organization’s employee policy manual?

Support your rationale with (at minimum) the 10 scholarly sources used in your annotated bibliography in addition to the textbook and the Bible. Remember, government websites and previous/current court cases are useful but will not be included in the scholarly reference requirement.

Following are some examples of HR policy topics. These are only examples. You may identify/select other topics that would be relevant and appropriate for a general employee policy manual/handbook.

• Confidentiality
• Harassment
• Benefits (This can be more specific to areas such as paid time off, health care benefits, and so forth.)
• Training Opportunities/Expectations
