1) Your text discusses different models of federalism. Dual federalism (1865 – 1932) was followed by Cooperative federalism (1933 – 1969), then the New Federalism (1969 – 1993), and the Post 1993 “Modern Era.” Briefly described this evolution then turn your attention to the present combination of a pandemic driving an economic collapse. How is American federal system working right now? Is it Dual Federalism? Cooperative Federalism? Or some variant of the New Federalism or Modern Federalism? What role does President Trump see for himself in this crisis?
What about the governors of the fifty states? Will this crisis lead to a further expansion of the role and power of the government in Washington, or will states emerge stronger than before the crisis? Why do you think this?
