ALBUM Research Project 100 points Objective: This assignment is designed to get you to understand the music that you like on a much deeper level through research, listening, and organizing information about that music. For our purposes we will define “album” as any E.P. (extended play) or L.P. (long play). Extended play records contain more music than just a single song but not enough to be considered a full-length album, perhaps just three or four songs. Long play records are considered full length, multi-song collections, usually around 10 or more songs.The following questions are to help guide your research:1.Full name of artist, album, and record label.2.Provide extensive background information on the artist. (Where were they born, raised, education/training, musical background, etc.)3.Where and when was the album recorded? 4.Who were the songwriters on the album and what else have they worked on?5.Who produced it and what else have they produced?6.Who are the other musicians in the band or on the record and what else have they played on?7.How many records has this artist released and where does this record fall in the timeline of this artistʼs output?8.Has this album won any major awards that are worth mentioning? (Grammy nomination or win, American Music Award, Rock n Roll Hall of Fame Induction, etc.)9.Any interesting facts, myths, or anything else noteworthy about this record, songs on the record, the recording process, or the artist themselves?10. Why did you pick this album?Grading CriteriaYour work will be graded based upon the following criteria:1.Content. You must provide accurate, factual information – NOT OPINIONS (except for #10) – based upon the questions above. (50 points)
2.Format. Paper must be at least 4 pages in length, double-spaced, 12 point font. While I am not looking for M.L.A. format or anything that specific, your paper should look neat and organized and be of a substantial length. (20 points)3.References. You must have AT LEAST 3 separate, credible references. (google.com is not a reference. wikipedia.com is not a reference, but – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thriller_(Michael_Jackson_album) – is.) You will lose 10 points for each reference that you are missing or that is not credible. If I can’t use your reference to learn information about your subject than it is not credible.
