Assignment 2 Brief A Corporate Wellness Program (3,000 words / weighting 80%)
In the modern competitive environment, companies are now starting to understand the importance of employee wellness. Most adults admit they receive little to no physical activity during their typical workday which underlies many health-related illnesses. Workplace Wellness programs generally include any health promotion activity in the workplace designed to improve health outcomes of employees. Common examples of wellness initiatives include educational programs, health / wellness circulars or newsletters, seminars, health coaching, on-site fitness facilities, fitness fairs and or health on-site food options. The benefits provided from company-sponsored wellness programs can be attitudinal and behavioral, that is, wellness programs have the ability to change the way people feel about their work environment (attitudinal) and also change the way people perform their work (behavioral) (Swayze, 2013).

Design a corporate wellness program for a (virtual) company of your choice. Your program should be designed, as a 10 week health and wellness schedule and meet the criteria identified above. Your plan should include the following:
1. Characteristics of the company: type of company, diversity and size of workforce, physical location and potential space for maximizing health and wellness opportunities in the working schedule. (300 words).
2. Outline the justification for and the benefits of having a workplace health and wellness program. (800 words).
Evaluate the components for a health and wellness program and outline the potential technologies that may assist: draw from the core themes below giving examples and say how they can be best implemented into your (virtual) company’s health and wellness program. Keep in mind the diversity and location of your workforce. (1,000 words).
health and wellness strategies and interventions,
physical activity programs and interventions,
work-based activity challenges,
health screening options
nutrition education and awareness programs,
health and wellness incentives,
technology for promoting health and wellness the workplace.
3. Create a 10 week health and wellness schedule: schedule should incorporate daily elements from the above list for your (imagined) workforce. Ensure you select a good mix of elements each week. (600 words)
4. Draft an employee questionnaire: draft (15 questions) to evaluate your program in the workforce. (300)

Your proposal should be comprehensive yet and professional complying with and the total word count 3,000 words +/- 10%
The proposal must address all headings outlined above.
Emphasis should be attributed according to the mark allocation.
Use appropriate writing style and referencing (Harvard referencing system).
Reference to relevant articles and other literature should be made. A minimum of 10 references should be used (5 of which must be referring to academic literature). Additional material – flyers / posters / brochures may be included in appendix.
