It should be at least 750 words, double-spaced, and include a reference page with at least three references, in which one must be a book or periodical – not just a website. Contact the Ybor Learning Resource Center (library) for help with this.
In the report, make sure that you include dates, countries they lived in, contemporaries (other mathematicians and/or historical scientific figures that they worked with or who were working at the same time).
Include the significant contributions to mathematics of this mathematician and what this has meant to mathematics. Have general information about this person and their contributions to other areas of knowledge.
The cover sheet should include your name, the mathematician’s name, and a representation of a mathematical concept that this person contributed.
An abstract, including a small picture of the individual, on a separate page, is also required. An abstract is a summary, in paragraph form (DO NOT copy and paste from your report — summarize and retype!), and should focus on dates, nation of origin, significant contributions to the area of mathematics, and historical contemporaries. The abstract should be single-spaced. One-third of the page is the perfect length. Include the abstract as the last page of the report.
A grading rubric for the report is located in “Files” in Canvas. This is used to grade your report.
Note that the format of your writing and references is not graded, so you may use any format you prefer. Just be consistent, and clear. You may turn in your report in Canvas, either submitted as a file or a link to a URL (such as Google Docs, or similar).
